Yes, hydroseeding is an effective erosion control method. The mulch in the seed slurry stabilizes the soil while the grass roots establish, preventing soil erosion and runoff. This is particularly beneficial for slopes and uneven terrain.
Commercial hydroseeding is ideal for commercial properties that need uniform coverage over large areas. Our hydroseeding equipment can provide comprehensive coverage for athletic fields, golf courses, large green spaces, agricultural purposes, and erosion-controlling roadside vegetation. Commercial hydroseeding is more cost-effective and less labor-intensive than sod. Because we customize our slurry blends to meet each landscape’s specific needs, you’ll see quick results with deep-rooted, even growth.
Landscapers, excavating companies, contractors and even municipalities subcontract with us to handle hydroseeding applications. This helps them get the best outcomes for their clients while freeing up time for bigger jobs or more profitable work. We also work with homeowners.
The cost of hydroseeding depends primarily on the size of the yard. Other facts that can affect the cost include the type of mulch needed, the specific seed blend used, and any soil amendments added. For a rough estimate, you can use this hydroseeding cost per acre breakdown. For a more accurate answer, request a hydroseeding estimate from Superior Groundcover.
Once the site is prepped, the actual hydroseeding process takes just a few hours for most commercial properties. The custom seed slurry has everything the site needs for quick germination and even growth. You’ll likely see sprouts in just a week, giving your clients a beautiful lawn in no time.
We can prepare your site for hydroseeding. Most landscapers do the site prep and soil testing on their own, but if you need grading, testing or other prep, we can provide that service.
Caring for your hydroseed after application includes maintaining consistent soil moisture through watering, avoiding foot traffic on newly seeded areas, fertilizing the lawn at appropriate intervals, and following any specific instructions we have for your specific situation. Proper care ensures your clients end up with healthy grass that lasts.
Consistent moisture is a necessity for proper seed germination. Your hydroseeded lawn should be watered up to 3 times a day for 5–15 minutes. We will give you a post-hydroseed care plan after your commercial hydroseed service is completed.
The hydroseed slurry needs time to dry before you walk on it. Otherwise, the slurry can stick to the bottom of your shoes, resulting in bare spots where you walk. Even after the hydromulch is dry, we recommend avoiding all unnecessary foot traffic for a week.
